Bacon wrapped asparagus in the air fryer is one of the easiest and most delicious side dishes around. It is so simple, and perfect with many main dishes.

My Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Asparagus is delicious and comes out perfect each time. I like to use a simple seasoning blend which includes: onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and a little brown sugar.

This recipe is easy to prepare in the oven as well as the air fryer. Asparagus wrapped with bacon is a versatile side dish no matter what kitchen appliances you own!

I love to use my favorite asparagus from Michigan Asparagus.

Ingredients

  • fresh asparagus
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • paprika
  • olive oil
  • bacon
  • brown sugar
  • Cooking spray

Ingredient Questions

Can I use thick cut bacon?

Yes, but it will change the cooking time if you want it crisp and the asparagus may get a little overcooked. I prefer a regular slice because it gets crisp without over cooking the other ingredients.

Can I add a little spice?

These are mild in spice, but if you want more a little chili powder or cayenne pepper would be delicious.

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the asparagus so the stalks will neatly fit into the air fryer. How much you trim depends on the size of your air fryer.
  2. Place trimmed asparagus into a bowl. Add oil, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. Toss to coat.
  3. Lay a piece of bacon horizontally on your work space. Place 4-5 stalks of asparagus on the right end of the bacon. Carefully roll the bacon around the asparagus. Repeat with remaining asparagus. You will end with 4-5 bundles depending on the thickness of the asparagus.
  4. Evenly top the bacon with brown sugar. Lightly spray the air fryer with cooking spray. Place the bundles in the air fryer with the seam of the bacon on the bottom.
  5. Close and cook at 360°F for 15 minutes. Remove and enjoy.

Process Questions

Why do you trim the asparagus?

The woody ends can be tough and dry. Also, it is important that the asparagus fits in the air fryer so it cooks evenly.

Can these be made in the oven?

Yes, follow the preparation directions, but place on a baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes in a 400°F oven.

Can Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Asparagus bundles be made in advance?

Yes, skip seasoning them until ready to cook. They can be stored in an sealed container a day in advance.
