Creamy Parmesan Asparagus Soup is a fresh and bright for spring! Fresh asparagus, cooked with cream and parmesan cheese to make a velvety smooth and creamy soup that is celebrating spring.
Spring means asparagus season in out house, and it is one of my favorite vegetables! I love to roast it, steam it, grill it, fry it, and use it for soup.
This recipe is for one of my favorite springtime soups. It is ready in 20 minutes and is absolutely delicious. It can be served all alone, or it is a great side dish or starter for a meal. It is thick and sooooo creamy.
I love to use shaved parmesan in this soup because the sharp nutty favor is perfect with the asparagus and the cream. It is a must to add a little extra to the top when I serve it.

What do you need to make Creamy Parmesan Asparagus Soup?
- fresh asparagus, ends trimmed
- chicken broth
- water
- white onion, chopped
- garlic cloves
- black pepper
- salt
- shaved Parmesan (+extra for topping)
- heavy cream
How do you make Creamy Parmesan Asparagus Soup?
- Place asparagus, broth, water, onion, and garlic into a soup pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until veggies are tender.
- Reduce heat to low and add salt and pepper. Use an immersion blender to blend the soup till smooth. A blender can be used in place of an immersion blender. If using a blender place ingredients in blender, blend to smooth, and return to soup pot.
- Add cheese and heavy cream. Stir to melt the cheese.
- Serve with additional cheese on top.

Creamy Parmesan Asparagus Soup
Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh asparagus, ends trimmed
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 3 cups water
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup shaved parmesan (+extra for topping)
- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Place asparagus, broth, water, onion, and garlic into a soup pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until veggies are tender.
- Reduce heat to low and add salt and pepper. Use an immersion blender to blend the soup till smooth. A blender can be used in place of an immersion blender. If using a blender place ingredients in blender, blend to smooth, and return to soup pot.
