Camp Crystal Lake Punch is an creepy drink inspired by Friday the 13th and Camp Blood. No one loved Jason like his mother, and this drink is the perfect refreshment to show a little love to your guests. Apple cider, orange juice, white soda, and orange sherbet make an unforgettable, and slightly retro, drink.
"Jason was my son, and today is his birthday"..... That movie line still freaks me out and that haunting music as Mrs. Voorhees planned her attack on the camp counselors to avenge her son, Jason.
For Halloween Treats Week, I wanted to celebrate some of my favorite scary movies. For me, campy slasher horror movies top the list- I love them. So far I have incorporated, Hocus Pocus, Zombies (Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later...just a few favorites), and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Today it is all about Friday the 13th! I have seen each installment of the movie, but it is hard to beat an original- I do enjoy the second one too.
Did you know that you can visit the filming site of Friday the 13th? It is a camp owned by the Boy Scouts of America in New Jersey called Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco on Sand Pond. You can buy water bottle from the lake (creatively named "Angry Mother"), and parts of the original cabins. I want to go, but I don't exactly live close to New Jersey...maybe this calls for a road trip.

This drink is super tasty and perfect for a Halloween party. I use seasonal apple cider, orange juice, a bit of white soda, and orange sherbet. The color is a seasonal Halloween orange, and I even add a few ice cubes molded into the shape of Jason Voorhees' famous hockey mask. If you are having an adults only celebration a little vodka would be a yummy addition to this punch! I also love this recipe because it feels a bit late 1970's and early 1980's to me.
I also want to thank out sponsor Litehouse for their delicious treats. Litehouse sent me some of their apple cider and it was perfect for this drink. Look out for their caramel coming in a post on Saturday inspired by the king of Halloween- Michael Meyers.
