A caprese salad is a classic Italian favorite filled with fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. Perfect for summer as the vegetables and herbs are ready to harvest.
My Grilled Asparagus Caprese Salad uses delicious grilled seasoned asparagus, followed by traditional tomatoes, fresh basil, and mozzarella. It is finished with a drizzle of a slightly sweet balsamic reduction.
I am really excited to partner with Michigan Asparagus for this recipe. Asparagus is one of my favorite vegetables. It is versatile and packed with nutrients.
In our house we are partial to grilled asparagus, but it is delicious roasted, sautéed, steamed, or cooked in a quiche or pasta.
Grilled Asparagus Caprese Salad is one of my favorite salads because isn't everything better on the grill? I also love that I can serve it with anything from fish to chicken to steak and it is the perfect easy summer side dish. It is also great all on it's own!

So, Why Asparagus?
Let me tell you!
Besides being delicious asparagus full of nutritious. Asparagus is one of the most nutritionally well-balanced vegetables in existence. It leads nearly all produce items in the wide array of nutrients it supplies in significant amounts for a healthy diet.
Asparagus is also low in calories, at less than 4 calories per spear, and it contains no fat or cholesterol while being very low in sodium.
I love that this versatile vegetable checks so many boxes and I feel like I can always try something new when I cook it, or revisit an old favorite.
How To Pick The Best Asparagus
I thought for a long time that the thinner spears are the best to pick. However, I recently learned that the thicker asparagus doesn’t mean tough asparagus AND oftentimes it is even more flavorful!
Michigan Asparagus advises to look for firm, fresh, spears with closed, compact tips and uniform diameter. This allows all spears will cook in the same amount of time.
The best asparagus comes from our farmers and it is now more important than ever to support local farmers and their families. Shopping local also reduces the carbon footprint of the product!

This will make a great choice for a summer dish. I have the mozzarella pearls so I will definitely make this. I love the fact that you grilled the asparagus. Brilliant and so delicious.
