Love the crispy corners in the brownie pan? My Brownie Mix Waffles are crispy on the outside, but soft and chocolaty on the inside. Brownie waffles made with brownie batter are the best elevated breakfast and ready in 15 minutes!
I love a good brownie with crispy corners and fudgy chocolaty centers. My kids get really excited when we have brownies for breakfast with my Brownie Mix Waffles.
I make my brownie waffles by using brownie batter from a mix, and it makes breakfast so easy. No big ingredient lists, or melting chocolate. This recipe is simple and delicious.
My kids love that they get chocolate for breakfast (I mean, I do too!), and the waffle maker get the outside crispy- just like those yummy brownie corners.
I love to make these waffles on a weekend morning, but they can be made in advance and are delicious outside breakfast as well.
Ingredeints
- boxed brownie mix - Any type will work, but I avoid mixes with chocolate chips or chunks. The brownie batter does not cook evenly if there are larger pieces of chocolate.
- eggs
- melted butter - vegetable oil can be substituted for the melted butter for Brownie Mix Waffles.
- vanilla extract
- whipped cream and strawberries - other berries like raspberries or blueberries work well.
Instructions
- Turn on waffle maker and begin to heat.
- While waffle maker heats, mix the waffle batter. Mix the dry brownie mix, eggs, butter, and vanilla together.
- Once the waffle maker is heated, lightly spay surface with cooking spray. Add ¾ cup of the mix to the waffle maker.
- Close and cook for about 5 minutes. Once cooked, remove the waffles from the maker, cover to keep warm, and proceed with remaining mix.
- Top with whipped cream and strawberries.
Tips and Tricks
- The waffle maker will steam and that is normal. Try not to open it early for a peek.
- Sometimes waffle makers are hotter than others. Make sure you adjust the time if you need a little less or a little more. I like to test a small amount to see how fast it cooks.
- A drizzle of chocolate sauce is delicious over Brownie Mix Waffles- and a sprinkle of chocolate chips too!
- I also have drizzled caramel over the top and toasted pecans for a turtle inspired waffle!
- This is a great recipe to keep up your sleeve for a Valentine's Day breakfast.
