Spicy Blender Salsa is made with fresh tomatoes, cilantro, onion lime, jalapeno and seasoning. All made in a blender or food processor!
Tomatoes are ripe and ready, and I never miss a chance to make a batch of my Spicy Blender Salsa. This recipe is so delicious, and I love to make a few batches to enjoy during the year.
This recipe is fantastic because it take under 10 minutes to make, can easily be stored in jar, and it is freezer friendly salsa!
I use all fresh garden ingredients, and incorporate a slight hack by using a mild salsa seasoning for extra flavor. The end result is a delicious full-flavored spicy salsa.
This week I am celebrating Farmer's Market Week with a bunch of friends. Checkout out all the fantastic recipes this week featuring items you can find at your local farmer's market!
Farmer’s Market Week is always the first week in August. Whether you have a great local farm stand or market, are a member of a CSA or purchase your fruits and vegetables at the supermarket, follow our Pinterest board, for great recipes including those for appetizers, drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and more.Ingredients
- roma tomatoes - Other varieties can be used. I like the consistency of the roma in my salsa.
- white onion - red onion or yellow onions work well.
- jalapeno - I add the pepper with seeds and all. I like the heat, and it mellows after sitting in the fridge. However, you can omit or reduce if you don't want the spice.
- garlic
- lime juice
- fresh cilantro - Do not use dry. The flavor will not be as good.
- mild dry salsa seasoning packet - This is the one I use and I love the additional flavor it gives to the salsa. It is, of course, optional and you can season with salt and pepper.
- salt
- black pepper
- Food Processor or Blender - Even though this recipe is called Spicy Blender Salsa a food processor works great too.
Instructions
- Place tomatoes, onion, pepper, cilantro, and lime juice in a 10 or 12 cup food processor or regular blender.
- Pulse until there are a few chunks remaining.
- Add seasoning packet, salt, and pepper.
- Serve with tortilla chips.
The salsa can be stored in mason jars for a week, or it can be frozen and kept in the freezer for 3-4 months.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best was to freeze Spicy Blender Salsa?
I pour the salsa into clean mason jars. This recipe makes about 1 full quart. I like to put it into smaller pint jars for freezing. Make sure to leave about an 1 ½ inch of room at the top because the salsa expands.
I do not like a lot of spice in my salsa- what should I do?
Omit the jalapeno, or reduce the amount to half. I use a small pepper for this recipe, but it still packs a lot of heat. I think a little spice adds to the salsa and you can cut off a small portion and toss it in.
Where can I find the salsa seasoning?
I have the link in the recipe card below to order online, or I find it at my local grocery store by the produce section.
How long will the salsa keep?
The salsa can be stored in mason jars for a week, or it can be frozen and kept in the freezer for 3-4 months.

My first job was at a Mexican restaurant as a server when I was 16. I could eat all the chips and salsa I wanted when I was back in the kitchen and it was basically the best perk ever for a salsa loving kid. This salsa is divine and so easy!
