Bagel Dip is an upper Midwest classic dip made with cream cheese, mayo, and sour cream. Chopped dried beef, fresh green onion, and herbs (especially the dill) are the perfect flavor combo. Served with bite-sized bagel pieces.
Bagel Dip is a total midwestern dip and it is delicious.
Bagel dip is typically made with some ratio of mayo, sour cream, and cream cheese. Some dips with only use two out of the three ingredients.
The other main component is the meat. I like to use Buddig brand, which you can find by the lunchmeat, of dried beef. Bagel Dip can be made with corned beef from the same brand also works well. The key is to have the meat thinly sliced.
I like to use ranch seasoning and additional dill and garlic powder. However, everyone has different seasoning blends depending on their tastes.
I also love to add a little green onion as well!
The best thing to serve with this dip is, of course, bagels. I cut mine into bite-sized pieces.
Ingredients
- cream cheese - You can use a flavored cream cheese like veggie or chive for an alternative flavor!
- sour cream - I like to use lite or full-fat. I don't recommend fat free.
- mayonnaise - same deal as the sour cream.
- ranch seasoning packet
- green onions
- dried beef (lunchmeat style), chopped - I like to use Buddig brand. The corned beef also works well in my Bagel Dip.
- dried dill weed - fresh dill works as well!
- garlic powder
- bagels, cut into pieces -I typically use plain, whole wheat, rye, and onion bagels. However, any kind works well!
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo.
- Add the onion, dried beef, ranch packet, dill, and garlic powder. Stir till evenly mixed.
- Allow dip to chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. The dip can be made up to 48 hours in advance and stored covered in the fridge.
- Serve with chopped bagels.
Serving Suggestions and Storage
- Serve the Bagel Dip with cut bagels, crackers, and fresh veggies like carrots, peppers, and celery.
- The dip can be made up to 48 hours in advance. Make sure to store it in a sealed container in the fridge.
- When serving the dip, make sure that you are conscious of the temperature because of the mayo. The dip is best served cold.
