Everyone's favorite sweet and savory pizza is now a grilled cheese sandwich! Gooey, cheesy, and packed with Hawaiian pizza flavors makes a delicious sandwich twist!

Are you team pineapple pizza? I 100% am! My sister and I love pineapple and ham pizza- or even pineapple and pepperoni pizza! Thankfully, my kids and nephew love it as well. I love the contrast of the sweet and savory in the flavor combination of the ham and pineapple.

I had an idea to combine one of my favorite pizzas with another favorite- grilled cheese. Since April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Day I thought what better time to merge two of my favorite things!

This recipe is super easy and uses many ingredients you likely have on hand like bottles or canned pizza sauce, canned pineapple, cheese, and thinly sliced ham. I love to make this when I am in the mood for pizza because it totally satisfies the sweet and savory needs!

Check out the cute little hand on the right that helped me get a delicious and perfect cheese pull on this sandwich!

How do I make Hawaiian Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

  1. Place skillet on the burner and set heat to medium-low.
  2. On 4 slices of bread, spread ½ tablespoon of butter on east side of the bread. Place 2 slices of bread butter side down in skillet. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce onto each slice of bread in the skillet. Next, layer 2 tablespoon of shredded cheese to each slice in the skillet.
  3. Next, ham, pineapple, and remaining mozzarella. Top with 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce. Top with remaining 2 slices of bread.
  4. Cook sandwiches until golden brown on the bottom, about 3-4 minutes. Flip sandwiches and cook until golden brown on the other side and the cheese has fully melted, about 3-4 remaining minutes. If the bread turns golden brown before the cheese has fully melted, reduced stove heat to low. Remove from heat and enjoy!
