Chicken Bacon Ranch Tater Tot Casserole is a family favorite. Tender shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, and bacon topped with crispy tater tots.
My Chicken Bacon Ranch Tater Tot Casserole hits all the right notes that every casserole should: flavorful, creamy, cheesy. The bacon is perfectly smoky and the tater tots are a perfect crispy topper.
I love how easy this casserole was for a weeknight meal and it warmed up wonderfully for lunch leftovers the following day.
Tater tot style casseroles are a family favorite. The classic ground beef with veggies is a popular dinner, but I love to switch it up with chicken tater tot casserole with bacon, ranch, and cheese.
Ingredients
- cream of chicken soup - I used a canned option, but you can try your hand at a homemade version of cream of chicken soup as well.
- shredded cooked chicken breast
- canned kitchen cut green beans
- ranch seasoning packet
- sour cream
- low-sodium bacon
- sharp cheddar cheese
- frozen tater tots - frozen crowns work great in my Chicken Bacon Ranch Tater Tot Casserole.
Serving and Storing
- Serving: Serve immediately- it is best hot and bubbly.
- Store: Store casserole in a covered container up to 4-5 days.
- Freeze: Store in a disposable casserole dish. Cover and wrap with plastic wrap. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 9×13 casserole dish and set aside.
- Mix cream of chicken soup, ranch packet, green beans, and sour cream. Gently stir in the chicken.
- Spread chicken mixture evenly into the casserole dish. Top evenly with grated cheese and follow by topping with chopped bacon. Evenly arrange tater tots on top of the casserole.
- Bake the uncovered in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
Notes On Shredded Chicken
I used shredded cooked chicken in my casserole and I make this a few different ways:
1) poach the chicken and shred
2) cook the chicken in the slow cooker with a little stock
3) rotisserie chicken for a great quick option.
Typically, I like to make batches of shredded chicken, portion the chicken, and store it in the freezer.

I doubled this recipe so I could freeze them. I wanted to suggest Wrights bacon ends and pieces. It comes in a 3lb bag at WalMart for $8 and was perfect for this.

Wow, these look so good. I've never made this dish and should - it's the sort of thing I like to make. Good stuff - thanks so much.

My kids totally gobbled this up -- so good!

This looks like comfort food at its best. My kids love tater tots, and adding a ranch flavor to them is just a great idea! Plus the cheesiness really takes it over the top.

When do you put in the beans? It doesn't say? Do they even belong in the recipe?
This is why I don't like cooking.... 🙁
