My Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing is a hands-off crowd pleasing holiday side. Packed with savory sausage, veggies, and herbs. A great way to free up your oven!
My Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing is one of my family's favorite recipes for Thanksgiving.
It does not get any easier than this side dish. Savory bread, tender sausage, fresh veggies, and a sprinkling of herbs.
I also use white wine in my stuffing because I love the flavor once it is soaked in the bread and cooks with the sausage. My Dad always used white wine, and it is a must have for me, but it is optional.
Oven space is always at a premium during the holidays and I love that Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing frees some space in the oven for other dishes like turkey, green bean casserole, and, of course, pumpkin pie.
Ingredients
- ground pork sausage
- dried bread stuffing mix
- celery stalks
- white onion
- poultry seasoning
- dried parsley
- black pepper
- white wine
- chicken broth
- 6 quart slow cooker
Substitutions and Additions
The white wine can be substituted for additional chicken broth or water. Apple cider is also a delicious option for my Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing.
Diced apples, dried cranberries, mushrooms, or toasted pecans are also excellent additions.
I like to use pork sausage, but chicken or turkey sausage are also great options!
Instructions
- Brown sausage in a medium skillet until no longer pink and it has crumbled.
- Place sausage in a 6 qt slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients and stir.
- Cook on low for 2-3 hours. Stir halfway to prevent scorching.
Recipes Notes
Stuffing can be made a day in advance before cooking in the slow cooker. Store covered in the fridge.
The slow cooker heat can be adjusted to the warm setting once cooking is completed

Any time I can free up space in my oven I'm game and this stuffing recipe was amazing in the slow cooker. I just loved how the sausage flavored the recipe and it was so moist.
