My Slow Cooker Saucy Pork Chops are an old-fashion vintage style recipe from childhood. Pantry staples and onions create a rich salty and savory saucy for the pork. Serve over mashed potatoes, my Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes are a delicious accompanying side, for a quick and easy slow cooked dinner.

January is National Slow Cooker Month and I am joining with a few friends to celebrate all things slow cooker. This week you will find many different slow cooker recipes from other bloggers from all over the county- a perfect time to fill your weekly meal plan! Check out the recipes below the recipe!

I love traditional pork chop slow cooker recipes. You know, the ones that have been in kitchen for ever, contain a somewhat random mix of ingredients, slow cooked, and come out tasting incredible.

My Slow Cooker Saucy Chops is just that type of slow cooker pork chop recipe. Boneless pork chops are slow cooked with canned soup, ketchup, A-1, and onions. The result is a delicious salty, tangy, savory sauce that is perfect spooned over the pork chops and mashed potatoes or rice.

This is an old school style recipe, and is always a favorite in our house. I especially love the flavor of the cooked onions in the sauce, and use them almost like a gravy.

This recipe use pantry ingredients and I love that when meal planning because it gives flexibility in the event something comes up and meals need to be shifted around.

Ingredients

  • boneless pork chops- I prefer using boneless for slow cooker recipes.
  • black pepper
  • can cream of chicken soup- You can use a homemade version for cream of chicken soup in place of the canned soup.
  • cup water- water can be substituted for chicken broth for a richer flavor.
  • medium onion- I use white onion in my Slow Cooker Saucy Pork Chops, but yellow or red onions work too.
  • ketchup
  • A-1- this product is located by the ketchup and BBQ sauce in the grocery store.

Why Use Boneless Pork Chops?

I like to use boneless pork chops in slow cooker recipes because the sizing is uniform. The thickness of the chop is also uniform and can be customized.

I use a traditional cut in my Slow Cooker Saucy Pork Chops, but a thick up pork chop is also great in this recipe.

Bone-in pork chops are great when grilling, but for a slow cooker I prefer boneless because the meat tends to separate from the bone.

If you do not want to use pork, I suggest trying a boneless skinless chicken breast in place of the pork chop.

Serving Suggestions

I love to serve my Slow Cooker Saucy Pork Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. My Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes, or Creamy Cucumber Salad are delicious as well.

Instructions

  1. Place pork chops in the slow cooker and season with black pepper. Place sliced onions on top of chops.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix soup, water, ketchup, and A-1. Mix well.
  3. Pour soup mixture evenly over the chops and onions.
  4. Cook on low 6-7 hours. Serve each chop with a sliced onion on top.

Slow Cooker Heat Settings Tips

It is always tempting to cook slow cooker meals on high, and this is one recipe that is adaptable to high or low heat.

I prefer low heat because the pork has more time to cook in the sauce, but this recipe works great on high heat as well. For high heat, cook for 3-4 hours.

When cooked on high heat the pork does not absorb as much flavor from the sauce, but it is still tasty and packed with flavor.
