My Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp is ready in 10 minutes and results in perfectly plump and tender jumbo shrimp.
I am relatively new to the air fryer world, and starting to experiment with more recipe to share.
It made sense to start easy in my experimentation with my simple Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp. I almost always have shrimp in my freezer, but I hate waiting for it to thaw.
The air fryer is the perfect was to use frozen shrimp and results in perfectly cooked plump tender shrimp.
Air fryers use heat circulation to cook food and the result is as if it was fried, but without using heavy oils and fats.
I love the ease of this recipe! It is a perfect way to make shrimp for an appetizer, a main meal, or a quick snack!
Ingredients
- Jumbo Shrimp - The size of the shrimp matters when it comes to cooking it in the air fryer. If the shrimp is too small it will be chewy. Make sure you adjust cooking time if you use a smaller variety.
- Cooking Spray/Oil Spritzer
- Salt
- Pepper
- Air Fryer - I love Dash products and this color is so pretty!
Seasoning Suggestions
Chili Lime: use 1 teaspoon of chili powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Brush over the shrimp when they are flipped halfway into cooking.
Cajun: sprinkle 1 ½ teaspoon of cajun seasoning over the shrimp when they are seasoned with salt and pepper.
Garlic: use 1 teaspoon garlic salt in place of salt and sprinkle it over the shrimp after flipping.

Instructions

- Lightly spray the shrimp with cooking spray or mist lightly with olive oil.
- Cook at 400°F for 5 minutes. At the halfway point, flip the shrimp and create one single layer in the air fryer (some overlap is ok!). Season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes.
Does The Type Of Shrimp Matter?
The short answer is, yes.
My Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp recipe is written for jumbo shrimp. If you use a smaller variety the shrimp might get overcooked by the air fryer.
Extra large shrimp are 26-30 per pound and jumbo are 21-25 shrimp per pound. If using extra large, reduce the second final cooking time to 3-4 minutes versus 5 minutes for jumbo.
If you have not used an air fryer before, I recommend testing with a few pieces to get a feel for how it heats. Similar to a slow cooker, air fryers may differ from brand to brand.
Also, my recipe uses raw shrimp. If you are using cooked frozen shrimp you can season at the start of the recipe and only cook for 5 minutes.
