I don't know about you, but I love a good cocktail to end my Sunday. Today, I am sharing one of my new favorites- Grapefruit Bourbon Smash Cocktail. This drink is nice and strong, but the grapefruit gives it a tart and sweet flavor and the mint is so refreshing.
So what makes a cocktail a smash cocktail? I actually did not know there was a name to these types of drinks until about a year ago. A smash is typically a combination of the following: booze, sweetener, herb, fruit, water or juice, and ice. A popular smash cocktail is a mojito or a mint julip. Since I love grapefruit, and I love bourbon I figured this was the perfect combo for my smash cocktail. I also prefer to muddle mine in a shaker, shake, add to the glass, and then add ice, but you could muddle right in the glass you intend to drink from as well.

Besides cocktails, one of my favorite things about the weekend is going to my Pure Barre classes. I also go twice during the week, but I am at my best when I can do a few classes in a row because I feel more limber. Today I am signed up for a 75 minutes intensive Pure Empower class. I might need to be wheeled out..... but I am going to get it done!

I love grapefruit in cocktails. Heck, I just love grapefruit. I have been known to section them like oranges and eat them. They're so underappreciated!! Can't wait to try this.
