My Crescent Roll Peach Dumplings are an easy summer dessert. Flaky crescent rolls wrapped around a fresh peach. Baked in a buttery cinnamon sauce with a crisp sugared top.
This post and recipe was created for #SummerDessertWeek! I was sent samples by some of the sponsor companies but as always opinions are 100% mine.
Peaches are in season during the summer, and there is nothing like a perfectly ripe peach.
Sweet, juicy, and best eaten over the sink to catch an juice that runs down your hands and arms.
I love when the peach truck comes to our area. Filled with perfectly ripe peaches ready to eat. My favorite dessert to make with peaches is my Crescent Roll Peach Dumplings.
This recipe is so easy and and comes together very quickly to make an unforgettable summer dessert.
It might seem strange to use white soda in this recipe, but when combined with the sugared topping it thickens and crates the best sauce for the peach dumplings to cook in.
Ingredients
- crescent rolls - any brand will work, but make sure they are cut as triangles.
- peaches - no need to peel the peaches for Crescent Roll Peach Dumplings!
- butter - salted or unsalted both work well.
- brown sugar
- granulated white sugar
- ground cinnamon
- white soda (sprite, sierra mist, 7-up)- any type of white soda works- diet as well! You could even use ginger ale or orange soda for a slightly different flavor!
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8x8 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
- Pit each peach and cut into quarters. You do not need to remove the skin from the peach.
- Place a peach quarter on the larger part of the triangle of the dough. fold in the sides and roll the peach in the dough towards the smaller end. Place dumpling into the baking pan. Continue with remaining dough and peaches.
- Whisk melted butter together with sugars and cinnamon. Spread the sugar mixture over the top of the uncooked dumplings.
- Pour white soda over the dumplings- aim in between the dumplings.
- Place in oven and back 35 minutes. Remove from oven and serve warm with whipped cream of vanilla ice cream.
Why Use Soda?
The sprite helps the underside of the dumplings cook, and when paired with the delicious buttery topping, the top side of the dumplings has a delicious crispy sugar crust!
Also, other types of soda works for Crescent Roll Peach Dumplings. Ginger ale and even orange soda produces a delicious treat!
Diet soda can also be used and it works great.
