Did you know you can make hot chocolate in the slow cooker? Well you can, and it is one of my favorite ways to make big batches.

Prior to using a slow cooker, I used the packets (and still do for a quick fix), but they don't capture the deliciousness of rich melted milk chocolate. I love using this recipe on cold days so we have a sweet warm drink to look forward to after being out in the cold.

I added a little spooky touch to this recipe so that it can be the perfect sweet treat to warm your trick or treaters after a night of haunting and candy collecting!

This recipe uses semi-sweet and milk chocolate. You could exclusively use one kind if you prefer, but I love the flavor of the combination. I use evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and a little vanilla extra in this recipe. It is sweet, rich, chocolaty, and delicious. The hot chocolate is ready after about 2 hours on low making it a perfect drink to set up before you heat out because it will be hot and ready after when you return.

My spooky addition to this recipe is a marshmallow ghost topper. These are the same as the famous Easter chicks and bunnies, but in ghost form. They can be purchased at most grocery stores, retail stores, and Amazon.

My kids love this recipe, and I love that I can toss everything in a slow cooker and simply ladle into cups. No boiling water, no opening packets.... Like I said, I still use the packets in a pinch, but I prefer the flavor of this recipe over any powdered type. Another great perk to this recipe is you can store it in the fridge to use later, or it can even be frozen and made in advance for a party.
