Sausage and Orzo Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 lb mild Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 14.5 oz petite diced tomatoes
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • ½ cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • Parmesan cheese, for topping

Instructions

  • Cook sausage and onion in a soup pot until sausage is crumbled and onion tender. Add garlic and cook an additional minute.
  • Add the basil, salt, and pepper.
  • Next, add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water. Stir to combine.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes and add the orzo.
  • Continue simmering for about 10 minutes, or until orzo is tender.
  • Serve in bowls and top with parmesan cheese.
