Slow Cooker Cowboy Beans

  • 1 cup dried pinto beans
  • 1 cup dried great norther beans
  • 1 cup dried red kidney beans
  • ½ cup diced white onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 8 strips of regular bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
  • cup sliced smoked sausage


  • Place beans in a pot and cover with water. Boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, drain, and rinse.
  • Place beans, water, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker. Cook on low for 7 hours.
  • Remove cover and add BBQ sauce, bacon, and smoked sausage. Stir. Replace cover and cook for an additional 60 minutes on low.
  • Stir and serve. The beans will thicken as they cool.
