Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • ½ tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 14 oz can kidney beans
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • shredded cheddar cheese and sliced green onion, for topping

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, cook ground beef and onion until the beef is no longer pink.
  • Add garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Add chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and paprika. Stir to evenly coat the meat in the spices.
  • Stir the tomato paste into the meat.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato juice, broth, beans, and vinegar. Stir well.
  • Simmer for 30 minutes. Serve and top with cheese and sliced onions.
